It was late in the afternoon. I had cut the grass and gone to church. I figured my day wasn't going to get any better than the cold one I was enjoying with a nice cuban stick on my back deck. Then Mama K asked me if we were still headed to the Pittsburgh Home Show. I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to just sit on the deck and continue the process of relaxing and unwinding but any married man will tell you that following through on a promise is essential to survival . . . so off to the Home Show we went. On the first floor of the Home Show we wandered up and down aisles looking at patios, in-ground pools and porch furniture. Then, we turned the corner and I saw her and I knew I had to have her.To my surprise, Mama K was all on board! I placed my order with my now good friend, Franco, and the wait to bring "The Dome" home began.
The very FIRST thing I made on "The Dome" was some kick-ass pizza. Requested by my lovely wife for her birthday . . . they were pretty freaking awesome. Since her arrival in April of 2014, I have come a LONG way as a Pit Master. In the beginning, it was trial and error. I will admit, though, most things turned out pretty damn good. But I continued to tweak and improve and create. I've even recruited Mama K to help out now and then.
I'm hoping with this new venture of sharing my love of all things grillin', chillin' and smokin' will just make this even MORE fun than it already is. Bring on the comments and share what you love about your ceramic grill or smoker. Tell me what your favorite stick to light up is. Share what you are drinking when you are relaxing on the weekend or after a long day of work! And I promise to bring you more of things like this:
FYI - Bacon "Sushi" (only because of the shape) - it was EPIC!
PS - Stay tuned for the story of how my partner-in-crime got his start as a Pit Master leading to Sons of Sear . . . coming soon.
